It’s no joke, laughter is one of the best paths to your optimal health and happiness.
Do you remember laughing as a child for no reason? I used to always laugh uncontrollably with my sisters and it felt so good just to giggle and let it all out. But now, how often do you have a good, hearty laugh? I think the answer for the majority of us is: Not Enough! Laughter yoga is a unique concept where anyone can laugh for no reason, without relying on humor, jokes or comedy. We initiate laughter as an exercise in a group, but with eye contact and childlike playfulness, it soon turns into real and contagious laughter. The reason we call it Laughter Yoga is because it combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing. This brings more oxygen to the body and the brain which makes one feel more energetic and healthy. It’s a type of exercise that truly liberates your inner child to come out and play.
We’ve all heard that laughter is the best medicine, right? It’s true! There are countless benefits to doing a laughter yoga session. A few of them include:

Science proves that our bodies don’t know the difference between real and fake laughter. So I always tell my students, “fake it until you make it and do it with passion!” That way your body will reap the benefits regardless of whether the laugh is natural or forced. However, because happiness and laughter are infectious, people’s genuine laughter starts to flow and everyone in the room ends up laughing hysterically. It’s a powerful feeling!
Here’s a fun fact: 1 minute of a vigorous laughter is equivalent to 10 minutes of a cardio workout. So you really do get a great workout in a fun and playful manner.
